About the Author

Christopher Heard born in Oshawa, Ontario.

Began writing professionally right out of high school when I was asked to write a twice weekly column on films for my local newspaper The Oshawa Times.

In 1993 a producer from the local cable station asked if I would consider doing a television show he was putting together with another film historian. They had been following my work in The Oshawa Times and thought I would be right as the co-host. I then helped co-create the show called Reel To Real. We took the show from a small studio in Oshawa to being shown coast to coast to shooting our show on the beaches of Cannes during the Cannes film festival in less than seven years. Reel to Real was then bought by the Independent Film Channel and it would run almost every single day somewhere for fifteen years.

During the second season of Reel To Real I was asked to join the CBC Newsworld show Gilmour On The Arts as the film and book reviewer and interviewer opposite host David Gilmour - in our second season we won the Gemini for best magazine show.

My books: Dreaming Aloud - The Life and Films of James Cameron (Doubleday - 1997); Ten Thousand Bullets - The Cinematic Journey of John Woo (Doubleday 1999). I was asked to write a updated version of Dreaming Aloud the same year. I did a book for Doubleday called Call Me Dutch - Elmore Leonard from the Page to the Screen but Doubleday has thus far shelved the book (we were trumped by the release of an Elmore Leonard biography the month we were to release). DEPP (ECW 2001); Mickey Rourke - High and Low (Plexus 2006); Johnny Depp Photo Album (Plexus 2007) - I was asked to do a revised edition of this book in 2008). Kiefer Sutherland - Living Dangerously (Transit Publishing - 2010); Little Girl Lost - Britney Spears (Transit Publishing 2010); The Suite Life: The Magic and Mystery of Hotel Living (Dundurn 2011); Isabelle, The Butterfly (Fountain Blue Publishing 2014); In Hemingway's Room(Fountain Blue Publishing 2015).

I have appeared in nine episodes of E! True Hollywood Story and A&E Biography - most episodes connected to the subjects of my books.

I have written hundreds of magazine articles for everything from Rue Morgue to Movieline, to Dolce Vita to the Globe and Mail - it was a two page spread the Globe and Mail Travel Section (on fancy hotels I had interviewed movie stars in and the indulgences they were extended was the piece that kicked off my side career of writing and talking about hotels and travel).

I wrote the show The Movie Network Tonight for a year. I also acted as head writer for Fraud Squad for a year.

I was head writer/associate producer and one of the hosts a iChannel from 2004 through 2007 - I wrote and hosted the shows Investigative Affairs, the film, was a co-host of the show @Issue and produced the show It's LeDrew with Stephen LeDrew.

Recently I was the co-host of Planes, Trains and Automobiles on AM640 radio and a regular weekly half hour contributor to Bynon's Toronto Weekend on AM640 and a regular pop culture panelist on the television show The Michael Coren Show - and for the last three years I have been an on-air contributor to CTV News.
